Beach Cities Support Services

We recognize the diversity of our student populations and our students’ special needs, we provide a full range of support services that complement our academic programs, life skills training and transition services. We offer all support services recommended through a student’s individualized education program (IEP), including:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Behavior Intervention
  • Family Counseling- Educationally Related Mental Health Services  (ERMHS)

 


  Occupational Therapy

Discreet trial training (DTT), incidental teaching and level systems, students work with professional therapists to learn and develop their fine motor skills. Students receive individualized evaluation, during which the client/family and occupational therapist determine the person’s goals,  customized intervention to improve the person’s ability to perform daily activities and reach the goals, and an outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or make changes to the intervention plan.

  Speech Therapy

Speech-language professionals help students with developmental delays, pervasive developmental disorders, autism and other special needs develop their speaking skills, whether students have cognitive or physical challenges.

  Behavior Intervention Services

High School Student And Teacher Using Digital TabletThe Behavior Intervention services include a Functional Assessments of Behavior and Behavior Intervention Plans that address students’ inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to help the students become more academically successful. Behavior Intervention services provide classroom and a school-wide behavior management program.

 Family Counseling Services

Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) are mental health services that are provided to of students’ families receiving special education services. These services are provided when students have significant socio-emotional or socio- behavioral needs that impede their ability to benefit from their special education services.
